Marble tiles, marble slabs, marble sinks, marble thresholds and marble kitchen countertops are used in a variety of high end residential and commercial applications, including walls, floors, countertops and landscape designs. Marble is the preferred hard surface material for hotel floors, walls and countertops, shopping mall interior floors, shopping mall exterior floors, common areas, retail store wall coverings, store fronts and facades, luxury residential floors, luxury residential walls and countertops. The most typical finish for these applications is a polished finish although honed finishes are also becoming more and more common since they show a less shiny surface and are more practically useful in terms of sustaining wear and tear. Honed marble and antiqued marble are preferred in areas where there is a lot of foot traffic.
